From a young age Fay Massoudi loved to bake with her mother and knew she was destined to someday open her own bakery/cafe. A degree in food science and technology as well as a career in product development, which required her to experiment with recipes, fine tune them, and then scale them up, took her closer to her goal. She then pursued an MBA and worked in financial environments for many years. Throughout her life, Fay has traveled to many different countries with the purpose of acquiring recipes and techniques which would become the central theme of her bakery/cafe. Her commitment to integrity—to use only the finest ingredients and to take absolutely no short cuts—would be the secret of her success.
In 2007, Fay’s childhood dream came true. She opened Café Carmel on Ocean Avenue at a location where Carmel’s baking tradition began in 1952. Fay continues that tradition and lives her dream by bringing her expertise and love of baking together, resulting in a true old-world Carmel experience in every bite.
